Prepare for Overnight Guest Stays with a Guestroom Cabinet Bed

Category: Cabinet Beds

It’s here – that time of year when you are bound to have overnight guests staying at your home for the holidays. To help you make their stay more comfortable and your life a little easier in advance of their arrival, we’ve compiled these quick tips. Start with a guestroom cabinet bed and then think of all the little extras that will truly make this a lovely visit for all involved.

Make Sure You Have Enough Beds

Few of us have homes with unlimited space – especially when it comes to providing beds for the occasional overnight friend or family member. That’s why a sturdy cabinet bed is always a handy piece of furniture to have in one or more rooms in your house. This space-saving furnishing takes up a mere 10 feet of space on the floor, yet comfortably sleeps two adults on its premium, queen-sized tri-fold memory foam mattress. A cabinet bed is the perfect addition to a kid’s bedroom, a home office, a guestroom, a rec room or a basement. We have plenty of models in stock so you can still take one home before Christmas.

Streamline the Morning Routine

Nearly everyone is going to want a hot beverage in the morning. Instead of having your guests traipse through the kitchen and get in the way of meal preparation, set up a coffee station. A buffet or sofa table against a wall farthest from your major kitchen appliances easily serves as a coffee station. In addition to your coffeemaker, set out plenty of mugs, a bowl of sugar, a pitcher of cream, spoons, teabags, several varieties of coffee and perhaps a thermos to keep the java hot and ready throughout the day.

Provide the Necessities – and Then Some

The roomy drawer in the bottom of your guestroom cabinet bed is the perfect place to stow everything your overnight guests may need. Stock the drawer with plenty of towels, washcloths, extra blankets, pillows, slippers and perhaps a basket filled with things like shaving cream, soap, shampoo, etc. Go one step further and add a box of snacks, such as crackers, nuts and mints. Add a pitcher of water and a couple tumblers to a table next to the bed. You could even place a small cooler in the guestroom filled with various beverages and sticks of cheese plus sliced sausages. Be sure to ask if any of your guests are following a particular type of diet or suffer from food allergies first.

Carve Out a Space for Quiet Activities

Holiday schedules can be quite hectic. Instead of trying to organize an activity or event for every hour of the day, assume that your guests will want some down time to themselves. Place a couple rockers or recliners draped in soft throws next to the guestroom cabinet bed flanking as mall table with a reading lamp. Include a stack of your favorite magazines and/or books.

Convenient Extras

Some of our cabinet beds include USB ports and power outlets, as well as a foldout table at the head of the bed.

With some of our cabinet beds, there is a handy power outlet and USB port strip alongside the bottom of the cabinet, perfect for your guests to charge their electronic devices. This allows them to use their devices quietly before turning in for the night. Some models even include a nifty little pullout tray that functions as a small table perfect for a glass of water.

The holidays are here – we hope you will be enjoying them with your loved ones. From all of us at Murphy Beds of San Diego to you and your family – Happy Holidays!
